Equal temperament — every semitone the same size.
Which key the temperament is centred on. A stays locked to the reference pitch, so other notes shift around it.
A generic curve, not a measurement of your piano. Published curves differ by a factor of three at the top of the keyboard, and the real curve is jagged. Treat it as the direction of stretch, not as a tuning to trust.
A pure sine makes the beating against your own note easiest to hear. The others are pleasanter to listen to.
Laptop and phone speakers cannot reproduce much below 90 Hz. Shift up to hear low notes — the octave is still in tune with the string.
Keep it below the instrument, so you can hear both at once.
Time between one sounding and the next.
How many times each string sounds before the cycle moves on. One hearing is rarely enough to tune a string.
While a reference tone is sounding, the meter is paused — otherwise the microphone would hear the speaker and simply measure the tuner's own tone. Turn MIC WHILE PLAYING on if you are using headphones.
Higher = calmer, slower updates. 0 ms = update every frame.

range is for the Great Highland Bagpipe, which plays far above concert pitch.
Hz is tight on high notes, loose on low ones. Cents is equally precise everywhere.
